I am passionate about counseling people across the lifespan who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, asexual and all gender and sexually/affectionally diverse people. I work with individuals, caregivers, and families. I offer support and affirmation in my office as we work through the unique challenges that have brought you to me. I provide a safer, comfortable space where you can be open about challenges and fears while embracing the internal power and shine you already have.
I have 6+ years experience in the mental health field and school counseling field here in the Treasure Valley. I lean on a humanistic, person-centered, and feminist approach to therapy and bring in relaxation and breathing, mindfulness, grounding exercises, expressive arts, walk and talk, and nature therapies.
My areas of expertise within the queer community include depression and anxiety, identity issues, coming out, transitioning, strengthening relationships, addressing barriers and obstacles in life, increasing self-esteem and confidence, support during times of changes and loss (especially for parents, siblings, or kiddos of queer community members), and finding balance in life and strength within yourself.
Additionally, as a counselor I am committed to continually working on my own knowledge and professional abilities. This year I will be attending local workshops (topic areas of Child Centered Play Therapy, Assessment and Management in Suicide Risk), co-faciliating local talks and workshops (LGBTQIA+ 101: Education and Ethics, Affirmative Counseling in the Transgender Community, and Kicked Out: A talk about homelessness in the LGBTQ+ teen community) as well as national and international conferences which include: Idaho Counseling Association's Annual Conference in Boise, American Counseling Association's Annual Conference in San Francisco, and Gender Odyssey in Seattle.
